Online shop development in Ioannina

An online shop on WooCommerce or built custom that takes card and IRIS payments, ships with ACS and BOX NOW, feeds Skroutz and loads fast on a phone.

What you get

An online shop where customers find the product on their phone, pay by card, Google Pay or IRIS, and choose a courier or a locker. On your side, you create the shipping voucher from the order screen and never key in supplier catalogues by hand.

Depending on what you need:

  • Payments: card, Google Pay and IRIS through Piraeus Bank, or Stripe and PayPal.
  • Shipping: ACS and BOX NOW, with vouchers, tracking and locker pickup.
  • Skroutz: the XML feed Skroutz needs to list your products.
  • Speed: light pages that load fast, on a phone too.
  • Search: it understands Greeklish, and the filters only show what makes sense.
  • Google: each product’s price, stock and shipping in a form Google can read.
  • Product imports: a supplier’s catalogue becomes products in your shop, with images and attributes.

WooCommerce or a custom shop?

When we first talk, I will tell you which of the two routes fits your shop.

WooCommerce, a shop built on WordPress: you manage products, prices and orders from an admin you may already know. It suits most small shops, and your bank, couriers and Skroutz connect through plugins.

A custom shop on Medusa and Next.js. Medusa is open-source online shop software that runs on your own server, and Next.js is the storefront your customers see. It suits large catalogues, selling to other businesses (B2B) with quotes and approvals, and shops paying a per-order commission to someone else’s platform. It does need a developer to maintain, though, and with only a few products you don’t need it. More on the page about custom online shops on Medusa and in the article Medusa or Shopify Plus.

Where you can see it working

  • pooq.gr: a WooCommerce shop that was already trading when I took it over and rebuilt it: its own server, lighter pages, correct product data for Google, plugins for ACS, BOX NOW and Piraeus Bank.
  • Κόμβος Υγείας Eshop: a live shop on Medusa and Next.js that sells to consumers and to businesses (B2C and B2B). I am the founding lead developer at Komvos Ygeias.
  • Kleidarakos B2B: the trade customers of a locksmith network ask for a quote, see it approved and order without a phone call, from one catalogue holding the products of 24 suppliers.
  • Heartbeat Pharmacy: a shop on Medusa and Next.js that the business owns outright, connected to the physical shop’s own system. I am the lead developer. Not launched yet.

How we work

I am based in Ioannina, but I work with shops across Greece, remotely.

  1. Get in touch through the contact form, by phone, Viber or WhatsApp, or book a slot in the calendar. You hear back from me, not from a subcontractor, within 1-2 working days.
  2. We talk about your shop: what you sell, how many products you have, which bank and which couriers you use. If you already have an online shop, I measure it first, so we can compare before and after.
  3. I send you a written proposal: before we start, you have in writing what will be built and when.
  4. I build it and you see the progress. On a shop that is already trading, I extend what is there rather than replace it, and every change has a backup and a rollback plan.
  5. The shop goes live on your own domain.
  6. After launch, if you want, I keep looking after it, so it stays fast and secure.

What you own

  • The domain, the content and the code are yours, and you can take them with you whenever you want. The same goes for the catalogue, the orders and the customer list.
  • No cut of every sale: no online shop platform takes a share of your orders.
  • Open source: the plugins for ACS, BOX NOW and Piraeus Bank are public, so any developer who comes after me can read them.

Frequently asked questions

How long does an online shop take?

A few weeks, depending on what you need: how many products you have, which payments and couriers, and whether it connects to an ERP or to suppliers. I guide you through every step, and the timeline goes into the proposal.

I already have an online shop, but it is slow. Does it need rebuilding from scratch?

Not necessarily. On pooq.gr I kept the WooCommerce shop, moved it to its own server and made the pages lighter: the time before a page starts loading dropped by 40-51%.

Can it connect to the stock or till system I already use?

It depends on the system. At Heartbeat Pharmacy, stock from the physical shop reaches the online shop every minute, so nothing gets sold that is not on the shelf. For ERP, couriers, banks and Skroutz, see online shop integrations.

I have thousands of product codes from suppliers. Do I enter them by hand?

Not if your supplier gives you the catalogue as a file. For pooq.gr I built an importer that matches the catalogue to the products already in the shop, fills in images and attributes, and pushes bulk changes in seconds. For very large catalogues, see catalogue management.

Will my shop show up on Google?

I don’t promise rankings. On pooq.gr, though, Google now reads the price, stock, shipping and returns of every product correctly, and 82 products it had flagged were fixed.

Can I change products and prices without a developer?

Yes. On WooCommerce you do it in the WordPress admin, and on a custom shop in Medusa’s admin.
